Winfree Academy Receives Superior Financial Ratings and “Accredited” Status
DALLAS- On February 17, 2017, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released the 2016-2017 Accreditation statuses for school
districts and charter schools. Winfree Academy Charter Schools was given an “Accredited” status, placing it with 98% of the 1,199
school districts in Texas designated as “Accredited” for the 2016-2017 school year.
Accreditation statuses are assigned based on a combination of academic accountability ratings and financial accountability ratings.
Winfree Academy Charter Schools, as a dropout recovery school, was awarded the highest available academic rating, Met Alternative Standard. School
Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) ratings are based on 15 financial indicators including admin cost, expenditures, and
financial vulnerabilities. Winfree Academy Charter Schools received the highest rating of “A-Superior”, demonstrating the quality of Winfree
Academy’s financial management and reporting.
Winfree Academy is projected to maintain favorable financial ratings for years to come. Upon review of the independent financial audit
for 2015-2016, Kirk Evans, partner from Evans, Pingleton, and Howard PLLC, reported that it was "…overall, a good report and the numbers are
headed in the right direction." He included in his report a significant increase in net assets during the 2015-2016 school year,
strengthening the School’s financial position.
As Winfree Academy Charter Schools continues to strengthen its financial and academic programs, it is expected to continue receiving
positive financial, academic, and accreditation ratings.
