Winfree Academy Charter Schools

A different type of Public High School for Today's Student

Winfree delivers a real alternative that meets the needs of today's students. The school day is highly focused on academics with a student-driven environment (which allows students to work at their own pace).

Students who wish to accelerate their graduation date are able to finish high school courses faster than they can in traditional public high schools. Students can also come to Winfree to recover lost credits and skills.

The individually paced nature of the students’ work day allows students to work at their own pace without being in competition with their peers. However, at the same time, our highly-qualified dedicated team of teachers and administrators help students at all levels and encourage them to work hard in an atmosphere of caring attention.

The Grapevine Campus is relocating!

This year Winfree Academy’s Denton campus started an Academic Decathlon team.

Picture
Academic Decathlon is a ten subject academic competition that is ideal for students who love to learn for learning’s sake.  Every year the Academic Decathlon program chooses a theme topic, alternating between science and social science.  This year was social science, and the theme was “The Age of Imperialism: the making of a European global order”.    The teams compete in front of an audience, in a relay event over this topic.

A student from each division, on each team, is awarded a gold medal for scoring the most points for their school.  Those awards for Winfree went to Nick Cleary, Aleksandr Sancer, and Destiny Sample, and we are especially proud of Brea Foster who was awarded the silver medal in the math event, against all other competing varsity students from all schools categorized as 3A or smaller in size.

Winfree Academy Charter Schools named one of twenty charter schools eligible to receive the first "Broad Prize for Public Charter Schools"
