School of Innovation
The Winfree Academy School of Innovation, located on the Lewisville, Grapevine, and Richardson campuses services a multitude of students who have proven academics is a priority and who want to learn in collaboration with their peers. Winfree Academy is committed to finding alternate ways for students to learn to further enhance their high school experience.
The School of Innovation is built on project-based learning and field-based exploration. Project-based learning is a self-motivated approach to teaching in which students explore realworld problems and challenges, simultaneously developing cross-curricular skills while working in small collaborative groups. Through projects, students will research real-world topics, discuss, disaggregate, and apply what they learn, while also gaining credit in all core content areas. Students will expand upon the knowledge retained by actually visiting businesses, organizations, community and state landmarks, or museums to further extend on their awareness of the topic. Research proves that students are more likely to preserve the knowledge gained through projects and field experiences far more readily than through traditional textbook-centered learning. Winfree Academy is dedicated to providing students a first rate education through a 21st century classroom and a staff committed to excellence.
The goal of the Winfree Academy School of Innovation is to attract college-bound (and work ready) students, and mold them into being more reflective, research-minded developers who apply the knowledge learned in this program to be more prepared for college, career, and life.
